Dielectric rubber mats are specialised protective products designed for use in the vicinity of electrical installations, switchboards and other sources of voltage. These mats are designed to insulate workers from electrical current and protect them from possible electric shock when working with high or low voltage equipment. The mats comply with strict international standards and are tested according to their class and rated voltage. UAB Almeida supplies dielectric solutions throughout Lithuania – in Kaunas, Vilnius, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Klaipėda – ensuring quality, prompt delivery and competitive prices.
Dielectric mats are mandatory in all workplaces where there is a possibility of contact with voltage: electrical substations, transformer stations, automation panels, workshops with electrical equipment, laboratories, manufacturing plants. They are necessary when performing maintenance, repair or installation work where the employee has to stand close to live electrical components. Such mats reduce the risk of accidents and comply with the safety requirements set out in the work safety instructions.
When choosing a dielectric mat, it is most important to consider its insulation class, which indicates the maximum permissible voltage level that the mat protects against.
The IEC 61111 or EN 60243-1 classifications are standard, which divide mats into classes from 0 to 4. For example, class 0 mats are suitable for up to 1,000 V, and class 4 mats are suitable for up to 36,000 V. Mats must be certified and marked in accordance with applicable standards, indicating the class, test date and manufacturer.
The thickness of the mat depends directly on the voltage it has to withstand. For example, a thickness of 3 mm is sufficient for work up to 1,000 V, while products with a thickness of 5–6 mm are required for voltages of 7,500–17,000 V. It is important to choose not only according to thickness, but also to take into account the test reports that substantiate the effectiveness of the mat. Thicker mats also often have higher mechanical resistance.
To ensure maximum safety, dielectric mats must be used, checked and maintained properly. Even high-quality products can lose their protective properties due to improper maintenance or mechanical damage.
Each dielectric mat must be tested periodically, usually every 6 or 12 months, depending on the intensity of use and safety requirements. Testing is carried out using special equipment to measure insulation resistance and voltage resistance. A visual inspection before use is essential: cracks, holes or surface damage indicate that the mat is not suitable for use.
One of the most common mistakes is using the mat on dirty, wet or slippery surfaces. Improper storage, folding or rolling can also damage the insulating structure. In addition, it is prohibited to place metal objects on the mat or work with oils that may damage the structure of the rubber material. Avoid using the mat in conditions of extreme temperature fluctuations or direct UV exposure if the product is not designed for this.
Mats should be stored flat, avoiding folding or storing them under heavy objects. It is best to use special storage shelves or hanging systems for mats. Mats should be stored in a dry, sun-protected place where the temperature is stable. Proper storage helps to preserve dielectric properties and ensure long-term safety.
UAB ‘Almeida’ offers a wide range of dielectric mats adapted to various voltage requirements and different working conditions. You can choose from several classes, thicknesses, widths and lengths. Non-standard sizes are also manufactured on request. All products are certified and comply with applicable safety standards. Orders are delivered promptly throughout Lithuania – to Kaunas, Vilnius, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Klaipėda, and the price depends on the specifications, but in all cases an optimal price-quality ratio is guaranteed.
Dielectric rubber mats are an essential safety measure in any environment where electrical equipment is used. They are an investment in vital safety.
